Mr Timothy Mudarikwa Executive Director of Zimbabwe Association of the visually handicapped (ZAVH) headquartered in Masvingo was recently appointed to the Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) Board of Zimbabwe and received his confirmation of appointed from Honorable Minister Sekai Zenza (Ministry of Labour, Manpower Planning and Social Services) on 29 October 2019. He would be representing the disability sector as a nominee from The Federation of Organisations of Disabled People in Zimbabwe (FODPZ).
Expressing his joy and gratitude to being appointed Mr Mudarikwa had this to say to the Board Chair of FODPZ Senator Watson Khupe, “I write to express to you, on behalf, and as Chairperson, of FODPZ, my heartfelt gratitude for your confidence in me and for nominating me to the PVO Board of Zimbabwe. Yesterday I received confirmation from the Secretariat of the Ministry of Labour, Manpower Planning and Social Services that I had been so appointed to the PVO Board by the Minister, Honorable Sekai Nzenza. I was excited and felt greatly humbled at the same time. I want to promise FODPZ, the disability fraternity, and yourself, that I will honestly and diligently carry out my mandate as is expected of me through such appointment”.
The tenure of the last 26 member board ended on the 31st of December 2019, and new board members have been appointed this October and will be undergoing training and orientation before the end of the year as they start their three year mandate in accordance with the Private Voluntary Organisation Act (Chapter 17:05). The board has the main role of registering and regulating the operations of all Non-Governmental Organisations.
